  3. Add cumin, coriander, salt, and black pepper to the pot and stir for a minute.
  4. Add lentils and water to the pot, cover, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Add rice to the pot, cover, and simmer for another 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Fluff the lentils and rice with a fork and serve hot.
