  1. Rinse the masoor dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add soaked dal, water, chopped onion, tomato, minced garlic, grated ginger, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, coriander powder, and salt.
  3. Close the pressure cooker and cook on medium heat for 3-4 whistles.
  4. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and give the dal a good stir.
  5. Add garam masala and simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with rice or roti.
