  4. Stir in the turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Add the rinsed basmati rice to the saucepan and stir well to coat the rice with the spices.
  6. Pour in the vegetable broth and lemon juice. Bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let the rice simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  8. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the rice rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh cilantro and lemon zest.
