Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the vermicelli and cook until golden brown. Remove from the pot and set aside.

In the same pot, add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.

Add the rice, salt, and water to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender.

Fluff the rice with a fork and mix in the cooked vermicelli. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
