Rinse the red lentils under cold water.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until golden brown.

Add chopped tomato, carrot, and celery. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add ground cumin, ground coriander, and turmeric powder. Stir well.

Add red lentils, vegetable broth, and water. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 25 minutes, or until lentils are tender.

Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth.

Stir in lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
