Rinse the lentils and set aside.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, sauté until golden brown.

Add chopped carrots and potatoes, cook for 5 minutes.

Stir in tomato paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder. Cook for another 2 minutes.

Add rinsed lentils, vegetable broth, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until lentils are tender.

Season with salt, black pepper, and lemon juice.
