Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

In a large pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add the rinsed rice. Cook until the rice is tender.

In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the chopped onion, ginger, garlic, and green chili until golden brown.

Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt to the pan. Stir well.

Add the cooked rice to the pan and mix until well combined.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Garnish with cilantro leaves and drizzle with lemon juice.
