Rinse the toor dal under running water.

In a pressure cooker, add the rinsed toor dal, water, chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, slit green chilies, grated ginger, minced garlic, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.

Close the pressure cooker lid and cook for 4-5 whistles on medium heat.

Let the pressure release naturally.

Open the lid and stir the dal well.

Add garam masala, chopped cilantro, and lemon juice.

Mix well and simmer the dal for 5 minutes.

Serve hot with rice or roti.
