The first veggie burger was created in London in 1982 and was made from a mixture of tofu and wheat gluten.

This is vegan, gluten free and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 40 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 16.

  1. Rinse and drain the black beans. Cook the quinoa according to package instructions.
  2. In a food processor, combine the black beans, cooked quinoa, oats, red onion, garlic cloves, carrot, bell pepper, fresh parsley, salt, ground cumin, and paprika. Pulse until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into patties and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  5. Toast the burger buns if desired. Place lettuce leaves on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a burger patty, tomato slices, and avocado slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
  6. Serve the homemade garden burgers with your favorite condiments and enjoy!
