General Tsao’s Tofu (Vegan)
General Tsao’s Tofu is a vegan version of the popular General Tsao’s Chicken dish, which originated in Taiwan and is named after General Tso Tsung-tang, a Qing dynasty military leader.
This is vegan, gluten free and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 50 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 12.

Press tofu to remove excess water. Cut tofu into cubes.

In a bowl, coat tofu cubes with cornstarch.

Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry tofu until golden brown and crispy. Remove tofu from pan and set aside.

In the same pan, add garlic, ginger, and red chili flakes. Stir-fry for a minute.

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and water. Add the sauce to the pan and cook until it thickens.

Add fried tofu back to the pan and toss to coat with the sauce.

Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Serve hot with rice or noodles.
