  4. Remove the fried plantains from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  5. Using a plantain press or the bottom of a heavy glass, flatten each fried plantain slice to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are crispy and golden brown.
  7. Remove the fried plantains from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Sprinkle the fried plantains with salt while they are still hot.
