Soak the fava beans overnight.

Drain and rinse the beans.

In a large pot, add the beans, garlic, and enough water to cover them.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour or until the beans are tender.

Drain the beans and transfer them to a serving dish.

Mash the beans with a fork or a potato masher until they reach your desired consistency.
