  2. Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  3. In a shallow bowl, mix together the cornmeal, chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. In another bowl, beat the egg.
  5. Dip each tofu slice into the beaten egg, then coat it with the cornmeal mixture.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  7. Fry the tofu slices for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  8. Transfer the fried tofu to a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  10. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
