Rinse and drain the black beans.

Add chopped onion, minced garlic, diced bell pepper, and sliced carrot. Cook until vegetables are tender.

Add black beans, vegetable broth, cumin, and chili powder to the pot. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until beans are soft.

Use an immersion blender or transfer the soup to a blender to puree until smooth.
