In a saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, shredded coconut, butter, granulated sugar, and cloves.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan.

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Let the mixture cool for about 30 minutes.

With greased hands, roll the mixture into small balls.

Roll the balls in additional shredded coconut to coat.
