Falafels are a popular street food in the Middle East and are believed to have originated in Egypt.

This is vegan, gluten free and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 60 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 12.

  1. Soak the dried chickpeas in water overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse the chickpeas.
  3. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking soda, salt, and black pepper. Process until well combined.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the flour.
  5. Shape the mixture into small patties.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  7. Fry the falafels until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Remove from the pan and let them rest on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  9. Serve hot with tahini sauce or in pita bread with salad and sauce of your choice.
