The veggie burger was invented in London in 1982 by Gregory Sams, who was inspired to create a vegetarian alternative to the traditional beef burger.

This is vegan, gluten free and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 35 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 15.

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, red onion, garlic cloves, fresh parsley, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and black pepper. Process until well combined but still slightly chunky.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add rolled oats and bread crumbs. Mix well.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  5. Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a veggie patty, tomato slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
  6. Serve the amazing veggie burgers with your favorite condiments and enjoy!
