Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil leaves.

Serve the spaghetti sauce over cooked pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
