Sweet-Spiced Bread Sticks
Bread sticks are believed to have originated in Italy in the 14th century and were originally called ‘grissini’. They were often served as a part of the staple diet of sailors.
This is vegan recipe. Dish can be prepared in 35 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 11.

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, yeast, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin stick shape.

Place the bread sticks on a greased baking sheet and brush them with honey.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.

Dust the bread sticks with powdered sugar before serving.
