Rinse the yellow split peas under cold water.

In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the split peas. Cook for about 20-30 minutes, until tender.

Drain the cooked split peas and let them cool slightly.

In a food processor, combine the split peas, garlic cloves, lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, cumin powder, and salt. Blend until smooth.

If the mixture is too thick, add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

Transfer the yellow split pea spread or dip to a serving bowl.

Serve with pita bread, crackers, or vegetable sticks.
