Sub sandwiches, also known as submarines or subs, originated in the United States and became popular in the early 20th century. They are named after their resemblance to the shape of submarines.

This is vegan, high protein and quick meals recipe. Dish can be prepared in 25 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 14.

  1. Preheat the grill or a grill pan.
  2. Slice the zucchini, bell peppers, red onion, and mushrooms.
  3. In a bowl, toss the sliced vegetables with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Grill the vegetables until they are charred and tender.
  5. Slice the sub rolls in half lengthwise.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom halves of the rolls.
  7. Layer the grilled vegetables, spinach leaves, tomato slices, and avocado slices on top of the mayonnaise.
  8. Place the top halves of the rolls on the vegetables.
  9. Serve the vegetable supper subs immediately.
