Tomato Rice

Tomato rice is a popular dish in South Indian cuisine and is often served with raita or chips.

Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and curry leaves.

Add chopped onions and green chilies and sauté until onions turn golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.

Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Mix gently.

Add water and bring it to a boil. Cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes.

Once the rice is cooked, sprinkle garam masala powder and coriander leaves. Mix gently.

Cover and let it rest for 5 minutes.
