Rinse the pinto beans and soak them in water overnight.

In a large pot, sauté the onion, garlic, and jalapeno pepper in olive oil until softened.

Add the soaked pinto beans, cumin powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and water to the pot.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours or until the beans are tender.

Serve the Texas pintos hot, garnished with cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice.
