Rinse the lentils and set aside.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add the onions, garlic, carrots, celery, and bell pepper. Cook until vegetables are tender.

Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

Add the lentils, vegetable broth, and canned tomatoes. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until lentils are cooked.

Stir in fresh cilantro and lemon juice.
