Rinse and soak the black beans overnight.

In a large pot, sauté the onion, garlic, and red bell pepper until softened.

Add the soaked black beans, smoked paprika, cumin powder, vegetable broth, and tomato paste to the pot.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until the beans are tender.

Use an immersion blender to partially blend the soup to your desired consistency.

Stir in lime juice, salt, and black pepper.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, avocado slices, and tortilla chips.
