Chop the onion and mince the garlic.

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until softened.

Transfer the sautéed onion and garlic to a slow cooker.

Add the canned tomatoes, sugar, salt, dried basil, dried oregano, and bay leaf to the slow cooker.

Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 4 hours.

After 4 hours, remove the bay leaf and use an immersion blender to blend the sauce until smooth.

If you prefer a chunkier sauce, you can skip blending.
