Soak tamarind in water for 10 minutes and extract the juice.

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, red chili, and curry leaves.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.

Add tamarind juice, turmeric powder, rasam powder, and salt. Bring it to a boil.
