Pakistani Style Chanay Ka Pulao (Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans Pilaf)

Wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.

Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.

Add chopped tomato and cook until it turns mushy.

Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Add soaked basmati rice and mix gently.

Add water and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.

Add boiled chickpeas and garam masala powder. Mix gently.

Cover and cook for another 10 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the flavors are well blended.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
