Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Add the onion and garlic to the pan and cook until softened.

Add the ground cumin, ground coriander, ground turmeric, and cinnamon stick to the pan and cook for another minute.

Add the rice to the pan and stir to coat it with the spices.

Pour in the vegetable stock and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the rice simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is cooked.

Remove the pan from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Fluff the rice with a fork and remove the cinnamon stick.

Stir in the raisins, slivered almonds, fresh cilantro, and salt.
