Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.

In a pressure cooker, add soaked moong dal, water, and salt. Cook for 3-4 whistles.

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.

Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.

Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well.

Add the cooked moong dal and mix everything together.

Cook for 5 minutes on low heat.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rice or roti.
