In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, carrots, and celery. Cook until vegetables are tender.

Add lentils, pasta, tomatoes, vegetable broth, water, salt, black pepper, dried herbs, and bay leaf to the pot. Stir well.

Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the lentils and pasta are cooked.

Remove the bay leaf and adjust the seasoning if needed.
