  1. Rinse the lentils and set aside.
  2. Chop the Swiss chard leaves and stems.
  3. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  4. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
  5. Add the Swiss chard stems and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Add the lentils, vegetable broth, salt, black pepper, cumin, and paprika.
  7. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes, until lentils are tender.
  8. Stir in the Swiss chard leaves and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.
  10. Let the soup rest for 5 minutes before serving.
