  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan and add cumin seeds. Allow them to sizzle.
  3. Add sliced onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  4. Add mixed vegetables and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add rinsed basmati rice and water. Bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat, cover the pan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
  8. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
