Garlic Rice – India

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

In a large pan, heat oil over medium heat.

Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add chopped garlic, onion, and green chili. Sauté until onions turn translucent.

Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.

Add the rinsed basmati rice and stir-fry for 2 minutes.

Add water and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover the pan, and let it cook for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot.
