Soak the dried fava beans in water overnight.

Drain the soaked beans and rinse them.

In a large pot, add the fava beans and cover with water.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour or until the beans are tender.

In a separate pan, heat olive oil and sauté the chopped onion and garlic until golden.

Add the cooked fava beans to the pan and mash them with a fork or potato masher.

Stir in lemon juice, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, and salt.

Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 30 minutes.
