  1. Wash the lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add cumin seeds.
  3. Add chopped onions, garlic, ginger, and green chili. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the cooker. Mix well.
  7. Add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  8. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and mix well.
  9. Garnish with garam masala and fresh coriander leaves.
  10. Serve hot with rice or roti.
