  1. Peel and slice the carrots.
  2. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the carrots. Boil for 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, cider, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Drain the carrots and add them to the saucepan with the glaze. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are tender and the glaze has thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and let the carrots rest in the glaze for 5 minutes before serving.
