Rinse and drain the black beans.

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté until onion becomes translucent.

Add black beans, maple syrup, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Stir well.

Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are caramelized.
