  1. Wash the lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot and add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Saute until golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomato and cook until soft.
  4. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Cook for a minute.
  5. Add soaked lentils, broccoli, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until lentils and broccoli are cooked.
  7. Stir in coconut milk and cook for another 5 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
  9. Serve hot with rice or bread.
