Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.

Add garlic, ginger, and green chili. Sauté for a minute.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.

Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.

Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Mix gently.

Add water and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pan, and let it cook for 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
