  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large baking dish, combine the lentils, barbecue sauce, diced onion, minced garlic, tomato paste, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, water, and olive oil. Mix well.
  3. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove the foil and stir the lentils. Bake for an additional 15 minutes, uncovered, until the lentils are tender and the sauce has thickened.
  5. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
