Donuts are believed to have originated in the Netherlands and were originally called ‘olykoeks’, which means ‘oily cakes’ in Dutch.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with coconut oil.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour blend, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and coconut sugar.

In a separate bowl, combine the almond milk, coconut oil, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

Fold in the vegan chocolate chips.

Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional: Melt some vegan chocolate chips and drizzle it over the cooled donuts.
