Rinse the black beans under cold water and drain.

In a large pot, combine the black beans and water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, or until the beans are tender.

In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic cloves and sauté until onion is translucent.

Add cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the onion mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Once the black beans are cooked, add the onion mixture to the pot and stir well.

Continue to simmer for another 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Stir in the lime juice and cilantro.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
