Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

Heat ghee in a large pan and add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and bay leaf. Sauté for a minute.

Add chopped onions, ginger, and garlic. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.

Add green peas and sauté for 2 minutes.

Add the soaked and drained rice to the pan. Stir well to coat the rice with the spices.

Add water and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with coriander leaves.
