Grissini, also known as breadsticks, originated in Italy in the 14th century and were traditionally made with leftover bread dough.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, salt, and black pepper.

Add the olive oil and water to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin rope, about 12 inches long.

Place the ropes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the grissini are golden brown and crisp.
