Pressure cook toor dal with turmeric powder and water.

Soak tamarind in warm water and extract the pulp.

In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and asafoetida.

Add sambar powder, tamarind pulp, salt, and water. Cook until vegetables are tender.
