Easy Low-Calorie and Fat-Reduced Mapo Tofu
Mapo Tofu is a popular Sichuan dish known for its numbing and spicy flavors. It is named after the pockmarked (ma) old lady (po) who supposedly invented the dish.
This is vegan, gluten free and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 35 minutes. Even a beginner can handle preparing this dish. Number of ingredients: 10.

Cut the firm tofu into small cubes.

Heat vegetable oil in a wok or pan over medium heat.

Add minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for 1 minute.

Add chili bean paste and stir-fry for another minute.

Add the tofu cubes and gently stir to coat them with the sauce.

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, cornstarch, and water. Pour the mixture into the wok and stir gently.

Cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Garnish with chopped green onions and Sichuan peppercorns.

Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
