Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.

Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

Fry the plantain slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown.

Remove the fried plantain slices from the pan and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Using a tostonera or the bottom of a glass, flatten the fried plantain slices.

Return the flattened plantain slices to the pan and fry them again for another 2 minutes on each side, or until they are crispy.

Remove the tostones from the pan and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Sprinkle the tostones with salt and serve them hot.
