  2. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
  3. Add the soaked porcini mushrooms, canned crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir well.
  4. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in fresh basil leaves and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Serve the tomato-porcini sauce over pasta or use as a sauce for pizza or lasagna.
