Add chopped tomatoes, vegetable stock, basil leaves, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth. If you don't have an immersion blender, you can transfer the soup to a blender and blend in batches.

Stir in heavy cream and let the soup simmer for another 5 minutes.
